Re: Hello and question (disk 3 error help: solved) Greetings and Welcome to the forums Theurgist!
Good to hear that you are able to play Pool of Radiance on your new tablet and computer.
It seems with each new release of DosBox and new release of D-Fend Reloaded, and all the various Operating Systems, and now tablets also etc, sometimes it takes a bit of configuration to get games like PoR working again. But it's usually just a matter of time and trial and effort to get these old games to play.
Originally I played PoR on the c64, then to Dos, then using DosBox with D-Fend, then using DosBox with D-Fend Reloaded, and then I finally ditched D-Fend Reloaded in favor of just using the command prompt in DosBox.
There is allot that you can configure within both the DosBox configuration file and the Pool of Radiance configuration file to make your PoR experience even better.
Take for example the pool.cfg file....
quote:
E
P
C:Name of the POOL FolderSAVE
C:Name of the POOL Folder
F
You can change things around here to alter the settings....
The meanings of the pool.cfg file lines are:
1.- Graphic mode: E(GA) / C(GA) / T(andy)
2.- Sound mode: P(C speaker) / T(andy) / S(ilent)
3.- Where the saves will be stored.
4.- Where the game is installed.
5.- F for full Intro or N for No Intro
In my experience, Tandy definitely has the best audio/sound capablility for Pool of Radiance.
If you change the settings in pool.cfg to...
quote:
T
T
C:Name of the POOL FolderSAVE
C:Name of the POOL Folder
F
AND also access the DOSBOX configuration file and change the data within it so that it uses....
